About the Platform
What is Contractor Palace?
Contractor Palace is a home service marketplace. Instead of a directory where you browse listings and wait for bids, you describe the job once and we match you with a single independent local pro. We take requests from every state. Coverage depends on your trade and your area, and we tell you where you stand as soon as you ask.
How is this different from Angi, HomeAdvisor or Thumbtack?
On those platforms you post a job and wait for bids, then pick someone, negotiate and hope for the best. Your number usually goes to several companies at once. On Contractor Palace we match one independent local pro to your job. No bidding wars, and your details are not passed around a lead pool.
What services are available?
30 services across pre-construction (plumbing, electrical, roofing, HVAC, foundations, concrete and more) and post-construction (painting, flooring, cleaning, landscaping, pest control, moving and more). You can request any of them from any state. Which ones we can match in your area depends on the trade and the local licensing rules, and we tell you rather than leaving you waiting.
Is Contractor Palace available in my state?
You can send us a job from any state. What we can match you with depends on two things: the trade you need and how your state licenses it. Some trades are licensed state by state, some city by city, and a few are federal. We check that before matching anyone to your job, and if we cannot cover your trade in your area yet we say so instead of leaving you waiting on a call that never comes.
How do I know the platform is legitimate?
Every pro is reviewed by a person before a job can reach them. There is no payment to the platform at any point: you pay your pro directly once the work is done, and we never hold your money.
Can I use Contractor Palace for commercial projects?
Yes - many independent local pros take commercial work. Select 'Commercial' when describing your job and we'll match you with pros who have commercial experience.
Booking & Payments
How does booking work?
Describe your job: the service, the scope, how urgent it is and your zip code. We match one independent local pro in your area and they call you with a free quote. If we cannot cover your trade in your area yet, we tell you that instead. Either way there is no deposit and nothing to pay to book.
What happens after I book?
Your pro accepts the job and their contact info unlocks in your dashboard. They'll call to discuss the job and give you a free quote. You can also message them directly through your dashboard.
Is my payment secure?
There's nothing to secure on our end, we never collect a card or process a payment. You pay your contractor directly, however you agree, once the work is done.
Do I have to put down a deposit?
No. There's no deposit and no card required to book. Booking and the quote call are both free. You only pay your contractor directly once you agree to a price.
What if I need to cancel?
Since there's no deposit or upfront payment, cancelling is simple. Contact us or your pro directly and we'll cancel or reschedule at no cost. Emergency cancellations are reviewed case-by-case.
When is the final payment due?
Payment is due directly to your contractor once the job is complete and you're satisfied with the work. The platform never holds or releases funds, payment is a direct agreement between you and your pro.
How do I pay my contractor?
However you and your pro agree, cash, check, card or another method you settle on together. Contractor Palace does not process or collect payments.
About the Pros
How are pros reviewed?
Every pro is reviewed by a person before a job can reach them. We do not run criminal background checks or third party identity checks. Ask your pro for their license and proof of insurance.
Why don't I see the contractor's name before I book?
This is intentional. By keeping contractor identities masked until a pro accepts your job, we stop pros soliciting you off-platform before they are even committed to the work, and we stop the job going to whoever markets hardest rather than whoever is right for it.
What if I'm not satisfied with the work?
Tell the pro first, most problems get fixed on the spot. Agree the scope and price in writing before work starts, so there is a clear standard to hold them to, and contact us if a pro stops responding.
Are pros insured?
Ask your pro for their license and proof of insurance. A real pro will send you the insurance certificate before work starts, so look at it yourself.
Can I request the same pro again?
Yes. After a job is complete, you can save a pro as a preferred pro. Your next booking for the same service type will prioritize your preferred pro if they're available.
What if my pro doesn't show up?
Tell us straight away and we will match you with another pro. There is nothing to pay either way, so a no-show costs you time and not money.
Privacy & Safety
Why is contractor contact info hidden until a pro accepts?
Two reasons. It protects you from contractors soliciting you off-platform before they are even committed to the job. It also means the job goes to a pro who covers your area and your trade, not to whoever spends the most on marketing.
Who can see my address?
Only your matched pro, and only once they accept your job. Before booking, we only use your zip code for matching. Your address is never shared with contractors before they're assigned to your job.
Do you store my payment information?
No. We never collect or store any card or payment information. All payment happens directly between you and your contractor once the job is done.
What do you check before a pro can take work?
Every pro is reviewed by a person before a job can reach them. Ask your pro for their license and proof of insurance.
Can I rate and review my pro?
Ratings are coming. We are building them so that only a job booked and completed through us can leave one, which is the part that makes a rating worth reading. Nothing is live yet, so there is nothing to show you.
What data do you collect and share?
We collect name, email, phone and address for booking purposes only. We never sell your data to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
For Ohio Homeowners
Does Ohio require contractors to be licensed?
Ohio does not have a statewide general contractor license requirement. However, specific trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) require state licenses.
What should I do before a pro arrives?
Clear the work area, note any existing damage you want documented and be available for the initial walkthrough. For plumbing and electrical, know the location of your shutoff valves and breaker box.
Can I get a written estimate before work starts?
Yes. For jobs over $500, you'll receive a written scope of work and estimate before any work begins. You approve the scope before the pro starts.
What if I find mold, asbestos or lead paint during the project?
Ohio homes built before 1978 may contain lead paint and homes with water damage may have mold. If a pro discovers these during work, the job pauses until you have a plan with a qualified remediation specialist.
Are there services available year-round in Ohio?
Yes. Most services run year-round. Some exterior work (painting, deck building) is weather-dependent. Emergency services (HVAC, plumbing, snow removal) run 24/7/365.
How does emergency service work?
For plumbing leaks, HVAC failures in extreme weather or anything else that cannot wait, select 'Emergency' when you book. Emergency jobs go to the front of the queue. If it is a burst pipe, gas or anything actively dangerous, shut off the supply and call your utility or 911 first, then book us for the repair.
Do you serve rural Ohio areas?
We cover all major Ohio metros and many surrounding communities. Coverage in rural areas depends on pro availability. Enter your zip code to check before booking.
